The Buying of the Things.

Okay, okay, yarn purge, I know. But, CSNF was this weekend, and I've been very good for four months. So I made a list, and a budget, and I stuck to both. Except for seven back issues of Spin-Off, but they were only $2.50 each, come on! I had to.

I finally found some Tofutsies sock yarn, and ordered some Mission Falls 1824 cotton, both from Rose Haven Farm Store. They were supernice, and have the best price on the cotton I've ever beheld, $5.20 a ball. I have enough for a t-shirt coming to me soon.

But, the greatest place of all was only two or three booths away from Rose Haven, Green Acres Alpaca Farm. They had a woman spinning at a cute little Ashford wheel, premade alpaca garments, thrum mittens, yarn, and - oh my god - big big bags of alpaca fibre, just sitting there. I didn't know what to do! The colours! Fawn, cream, black, grey, and - dear sweet baby Jesus - a mix called Tiger Tail.

Isn't that the most gorgeous thing you've ever seen? I got some black and fawn too, but that's the money colour. I can't wait to start spinning with it.

Buuut, I had to get the merino off the spindle first, so I plied it.

My second try at Andean plying, and it turned out really well and balanced, I don't even have to set it! I'm very pleased.

I'm going to try a practice run with the fawn coloured alpaca before I dive into the Tiger Tail. It's slippery and light and gorgeous and soft as a cloud and I'm kind of in love with it. Ahem.

That Tiger Tail is delicious! I have two bags of alpaca fibre - grey and cram, and Idon't even spin! (Nor do I feel the need to learn. yet.) I was thinking thrums, but to be honest, it was just too nice to pass up. The Knitters Frolic is this weekend...
